Kaiden goes from FLIS to AUBG
Parents and children who attended last year's secondary school graduation ceremony may still remember this beautiful scene at the ceremony: Kaiden, a 12th grade graduate from the United States, sang with his mother, and after the song, the mother and son embraced each other, a touching moment.
From the start of his study at Fuzhou Lakeside International School, Kaiden quickly bonded with his classmates, actively participating in various school activities and occasionally appearing on stage to express his love for music and performance; at the same time, he also won the praise of his teachers for his academic performance. At the graduation ceremony, a number of teachers and students expressed their best wishes for him.
With the help of the FLIS teachers and FLIS college counselors, Kaiden obtained offers from several universities and eventually chose the American University of Bulgaria in Blagoevgrad. This may have seemed like an unlikely choice as he had been accepted by several universities in other European countries as well as in his home state of Florida, but he concluded that this particular university is the one that actually met all his criteria for what he was looking for in a school so this made his decision an easy one. So why did he choose the strange continent of Europe?
The success rate of the school’s graduates with over 99% of their alumni gaining employment after graduation or enrolling in grad school is one thing that attracted Kaiden. The majority of the graduates begin their careers immediately after graduation in a variety of fields and industries including social services, IT, and politics. Alumni work for top international companies including Google, Microsoft, the BBC, and European banks, or pursue further studies at top global institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University, London School of Economics and Political Science, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition, the American University of Bulgaria teaches all courses in English, with an international student body from all over the world, and the multicultural melting pot environment is very inspirational.
Kaiden has now settled in at the university. Upon arrival in the college town of Blagoevgrad, where the university is located, the first thing he noticed on the scenic route to the town were the snow-capped mountains and wide meadows, along with the calm and charming inner city. Kaiden will be pursuing dual degrees in Computer Science and Macro-Economics with a minor in Music to fulfill his dream of being a programmer and game designer. He often takes long walks around town to explore the hilly terrain of the town, experiencing its laid back and simple design. He also participates in a number of events such as the annual International Dance and Taste Fest, where many students represent their home countries by making delicious food and engaging in traditional dances.
Kaiden also has plans for various summer internships. Many students participate in Work and Travel programs to travel the world and fund their education for the next semester, and this summer Kaiden will be traveling to Nashville, Tennessee for his first summer internship. Let's wish Kaiden the best, and may this humble yet ambitious big boy continue to grow and glow in college!
